Contaminated Soil Removal
When: May 2020
Location: Bacchus Marsh, Victoria
Client: Jaydo
Job value: $65k
Job and challenges: During Jaydo’s construction of a new wastewater treatment plant for Western Water, redundant asbestos pipework and asbestos sheeting was found that had not been identified previously in soil samples or dial before you dig plans.
The biggest challenge was being a cultural significant site, the soil was going to be processed by traditional landowners in search of artifacts before disposal as fill.
GMA was consulted in conjunction with key stakeholders then engaged to carry out a plan whereby the contaminated soil would be removed. The process of excavation, wrap, store and process was carried out with successful results and all stakeholders informed during the process.
