The GMA team was engaged to safely remove friable asbestos insulation from a set of decommissioned lift shafts in Port Melbourne.

The project was completed under full Class A removal conditions, including:

• Airtight enclosures sealed and smoke-tested

• Negative air pressure systems

• Decontamination units and on-site showers

• Strict adherence to industry-leading safety protocols

Wearing Powered Air Purifying Respirators and using HEPA-filtered vacuums, the team successfully removed and disposed of the hazardous material at a licensed facility.

With the lift shafts now fully remediated, the site is safe and ready for the next stage of upgrades and external cladding works.
